International Women's Day Celebrations

Hindustan College of Arts and Science celebrated International Women's Day today as a meeting was convened in its campus Mrs. Shantha Lakshmi of Procter & Gamble Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dr. Sakthi Prabha, Dean School of Humanities, Deans and HODs participated.

Dr. Sakthi Prabha welcomed the gathering signifying importance of this day and welcomed all to the august gathering. Women are important in society and all facilities to be provided to them. She said.

Dr. S. Thirumagan, Principal in his address said the work carried out by Women for development of nation and said of Ms. Thilakavathi, IPS a senior woman police who has written a book appreciating women in Tamil.  Nation is on the move because of women he says and sacrifices made by women leaders in the welfare of nation. He asked young girl students to read the biographies of women leaders and get inspired.

Mrs. Shantha Lakshmi of Procter and Gamble highlights the gender dimension and gave tips to girls on menstruation and said of Procter & Gamble products in this regard. Procter and Gamble is a leading multinational, operating in many countries including India and is concerned to local interests and welfare of local citizens, she says.

Sessions were divided into two one being to Business Studies students and other to Science, Media and to rest.

Dr. G. Ramasamy, Librarian proposed a vote of thanks, thanking all for making this occasion a grand success.

Earlier students entertained audience to an exciting cultural programme.
